ILLEGAL BEAR
BILE FARMING

My high school's mascot was the bear, representing both the Sun bear and Moon bear. I joined AnimalAsia to raise awareness about the cruel bear bile farming issues in Vietnam, aiming to shed light on the inhumane treatment of innocent animals by humans. The pervasive evil exists, yet not many people are aware of it.

In our efforts, we wrote articles, created videos, and organized silent art auctions to raise funds for the cause. We attended conferences in Asia and visited rescue facilities to interact with the bears directly. After three years of dedicated service to this rescue program, I was honored with the Mascot Spirit Award by the school.

Animals Asia - Bear Bile Farming

Animals Asia - Bear Bile Farming

After years of collaborative efforts aimed at rescuing bears in Vietnam, Animals Asia and the Vietnamese government have formalized their commitment through a Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement outlines plans to completely eradicate bear bile farming in Vietnam by the end of 2026. This comprehensive initiative includes rescuing and providing sanctuary for the 300-400 bears that still remain on farms in Vietnam, despite the practice being illegal since 2005.
